life or something like it

everyday goings on in my life

the fair

Last night we went to our local fair.  There were a ton of people we knew, but I kind of felt alone.  I spent a lot of time people watching and nearly everyone I observed was laughing (of course, fair's are supposed to be happy occasions).  Wanting a little piece of fun myself, I tried to get my husband to get a picture taken at one of those booths where they dress you up in old western clothes.  He was a total party pooper.  He had a ton of excuses why he wouldn't do it - other people have worn those clothes, it's stupid, it's expensive, etc.  The fact that it would be a fun memory for us didn't matter to him.

We did a bit of walking around, but for the most part we watched the speed events at the arena.  Like I said, we knew a ton of people there and almost all of them were riding in poles and barrels.

I did take our daughter on a few rides.  There was a henna body art booth that I thought would be fun, but I didn't want to hear the litany of - that was stupid, a waste of money, why would you want that - over the next few weeks, so I decided to for go it and got a funnel cake instead.
